Put weight on your back. Build it right.
Rucking is simple. Doing it without wrecking your feet, back or motivation takes a plan. Eight weeks, one rule, and every session on paper.
Get the basics right first.
Most people start rucking with too much weight, the wrong shoes, and no idea where they started. The plan fixes all three before Week 1.

Set up and weigh your pack.
Weight sits high and tight against your back.

Break in your footwear.
Footwear guide, 4 lacing fixes, and a foot-care routine.

Time your first 2 miles.
A timed 2-mile (3.2 km) ruck you'll beat in Week 8.

Add weight or distance. Never both.
That one rule is how the plan raises load without pushing your body faster than it can adapt.
- 01Three rucks a week. One Short/Brisk, one Steady, one Long, plus 2 recovery days.
- 02A planned lighter week. Week 5 steps back so you come into the final push fresh.
- 03A retest in Week 8. The same 2-mile route, compared against your baseline.
Two tracks. One plan.
The baseline test tells you where to start. Load is also capped to a percentage of your body weight, with a table in the plan.
Outlined bar: Week 5 lighter week. Light bar: Week 8 retest.
From checkout to Week 1.
Print the pages you need, work through the quick start, and start Week 1 when you are ready.

Do This First.
Six steps before your first ruck. Most take less than 30 minutes.

Ruck three times a week.
Short/Brisk, Steady and Long. Tick each session off as you go.

Recover on purpose.
Two recovery days a week, with mobility routines and stop rules.

Load capped to your body weight.
The plan sets a ceiling based on a percentage of your body weight, so the load fits the person carrying it.
- 01Body-weight load cap table
- 02Target pace of 15 to 17 minutes per mile
- 03“Hold or step back” rules when a week feels too hard
Print these first.
The quick start, the 8-week calendar and the weekly log. Put the calendar where you will see it, and print one log for each week.
All you need is a pack and a route.
The route planner helps you map a safe, repeatable 2-mile loop, wherever you live.

The Hybrid Week: Ruck + Calisthenics.
